How to play
- Press arrow keys or WASD (or swipe on touch) to slide every tile in that direction.
- When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one — their sum — and that sum is added to your score.
- Each tile merges only once per move. After any move that changes the board, a new 2 or 4 appears in a random empty cell.
- Keep merging to build a 2048 tile to win. You can keep playing for a higher score — the game ends only when the board is full with no moves left.

What are the controls?
On desktop use the arrow keys or the W, A, S, D keys to move. On phones and tablets, swipe up, down, left or right anywhere on the board. Every tile slides as far as it can in that direction, merging equal neighbours along the way.
Does my game save?
Your best score is stored locally in your browser (under the key g2048Best), so it sticks around between visits. The current board resets each time you start a new game — this is a for-fun sandbox puzzle with no daily streak.
How do I win 2048?
Reach a single 2048 tile. The classic strategy is to keep your biggest tile pinned in one corner, build a descending "staircase" of values along one edge, and mostly move in two directions so your big tile never gets shuffled away. When you hit 2048 you can stop or keep going for 4096 and beyond.
